In this role play, we use level and experience to keep track of your character's progress. You start out at level 0. Yes, level 0.
You gain experience by posting, and with each level up you can increase your ability to either use weapon techniques or magic and runes for demons and humans, respectively. Experience gains change with level and are at the discretion of the mods. So if you just spam for points it won't count.

With every level you gain either a new skill slot or four points to distribute to any of your stats. For example, you go to level two and put two into your health for the damage you can take, put one into stamina so you can use more weapon techniques, and put one into spirit so you can do more magic.

At the beginning, you have two skill slots and a possible twenty points to be distributed among your stats, not including Health, at least at first.

Since I'm not good at explaining, mail me with questions or if you don't get it. =/ I'm not sure if this is clear enough.

The Ranks and Levels

Quote:

- Level 0 : Rookie

At this level, you are considered the utter newbie. Chances are you know almost no skills, maybe one or two extremely simple ones.
  • 100 experience needed to level.
  • 10 experience per post.
  • Max of 2 poor skills.

- Level 1 : Initiate

Once you've actually gotten into the world a little bit, you might ask to join an organization. You can either join the Order or, if you can find them, you can ask to join the Fallen. There is also a Guild in Botta which accepts those looking to become hired swords, if you'd rather take a neutral route.
  • 100 experience needed to level.
  • 10 experience per post.
  • Max of 1 starter skill.

- Level 2-10 : Student

At this level you are most likely taking classes and being sent on simple missions by whatever teacher is assigned to you. You'll generally be paired up in spars to practice combat, if that's your aim, or become an assistant to a higher diplomatic power if you're more interested in politics.
  • 100 experience needed to level.
  • 10 experience per post.
  • Max of 5 starter skills, 1 average skill.

- Level 11-15 : Applicant

Once you've completed your basic training, you are allowed to apply to a team or whatever respective squad you have in your chosen group. Once you've been accepted into one then your rank bumps up to the next one. You can wait if a group you like has a higher requirement for joining, but after you pass this window most likely you'll have to jump through more hoops.

  • 100 experience needed to level.
  • 5 experience per post.
  • Max of 5 average skills.

- Level 11-25 : Soldier

At this level you've made it to the standard rank within whatever group you've allied yourself with. This is where most spend their careers, because most are content not to file reports for a promotion.

  • 100 experience needed to level.
  • 5 experience per post.
  • Max of 10 average skills, 5 greater skills.
  • Ability to 'publish' skills for others' use.

- Level 26-40 : Officer

Most soldiers only up themselves to this rank when they like doing the paperwork, teaching the classes, or helping the initiates. Some wait to call themselves officers until right before they can become a captain because that's usually the only reason they want to rank up.

  • 200 experience needed to level.
  • 5 experience per post.
  • Max of 10 greater skills.
  • Able to have staff positions in sections (Depending on availability and your group leader, of course).

- Level 41-49 : Higher Officer

This rank is mostly for those who are being tested by the higher ups to see if they can lead their own group.

  • 300 experience needed to level.
  • 5 experience per post.
  • Max of 15 greater skills.

- Level 50 : Captain

Once someone has reached this level, they're assumed to be perfectly fine and are left to their own devices. You can either start your own group, work on a personal project, or steal all of your group's information and skedaddle.

  • 400 experience needed to level.
  • 5 experience per post.
  • Max of 30 greater skills.
  • Able to start and manage groups.

- Level ?? : Sage

There are three types of skills in this world. They're ranked from 5th rank, the 'yawn, you mean you just did something' type to 0th rank, the 'holy shiz, did the world just explode' type. Below is, what hopefully explains it, a guide to each type.

Skills

Quote:

Weapon Techniques

Available to anyone with the means to wield a weapon, these skills combine your magic or your runes with steel, or whatever your main weapon happens to be made out of. While the processes are different for demons and humans, the effects can be pretty much the same, so if you get the creator's permission and you're not of the same race, you can still use these techniques.

Using these skills will deplete your stamina, relative to the rank of the skill. If you run out of stamina you aren't in any danger, you just can't use your weapon to its fullest potential.

Runes

A human technique to combat the demons' use of elemental skills, and as such can't be activated by demons. They require training in reading and writing, and as such only a few can be learned at a time. One rune takes up one skill slot, but they can be combined to make greater power.

Using these skills will deplete your spirit, relative to skill rank. If your spirit becomes low, not only do the runes have a chance of backfiring, but it can begin to drain your health. Negative effects are decided by the roll of the dice. (Explained Below)

Elemental Magic

The myths say that demons were created by summoning spirits from their own world and having them born into human bodies. This link remains through the fact that they have a connection to this world and can summon spirits to perform different spells for them. For example, if a demon wanted to set someone on fire, they'd summon a fire spirit and fling them at said person. The catch is it's practically impossible to summon anything outside of your element.

Using these skills costs spirit. The effects are the same as above. If you try to summon a spirit that is of too high rank for you to control, it'll start attacking you instead. Or just go crazy or whatever it wants to do. Some just sleep.

Skill Ranks

The ranks for skills are pretty easy. Starting at 5th rank, they increase in power as they decrease in number, then beyond there is the Sage rank, which is pretty much unknown as of now.

Quote:

Starter Skills (5th, 4th Rank): These skills are the most boring and the most fundamental. They range from making things shinier or summoning little blobs of elements to do odd jobs. Mostly you can only summon 5th spirits without worrying about controlling them.

Average Skills (4th-3rd Rank): These skills are kinda useful for combat. You can target one person and do a little bit of damage, but it won't be much help anywhere else. At this rank you can summon 4th rank spirits without worry.

Greater Skills (3rd-2nd Rank): At the soldier level you are trusted to handle greater skills. Summoning 3rd and 2nd rank demons are now easy enough and you can target two people at once for a lesser damage, or do a great deal to one person.

Advanced Skills (2nd-1st Rank): These skills are essentially the best you can do without becoming the Sage of your element. At this point, nearly everything is at your fingertips.

Sage Skills (0th Rank): --Unknown--

The Stats

Your stats are what you want to keep track of on your character sheet. To see your character sheet, go to your profile and activate it. Some things can only be filled in by an admin, such as your rank, so you need to apply for it when you rank up. There might be an in character test for those as well, just to make sure you deserve it. Anywhos, this is about stats, not ranks. xD

There are three main stats. Health, Spirit, and Stamina. You can allocate points to them as you level up, and most of their affects are posted above, in the skills area, while health is rather self explanatory. Keep in mind, you should keep them consistent with your character. For example, if you have a runes expert, they shouldn't have really high stamina and low spirit. Inversely, a weapons expert shouldn't have really high spirit.

You don't have to worry about keeping these updated on your profile; that's what your character sheet is for. =3

Boosts

With every 10 points you put into stamina and spirit, you get an increase of one damage in your weapon or skill attacks, respectively. For example.

As a rookie, you have 10 stamina or 10 spirit at least. Therefore, your skills will do 1 damage at least. When you upgrade one or the other up to 20, they do 2 damage at least. Pretty simple.
